Fact-Checking and Correction Policies

Fact-Checking Commitment

a) At Republic Awaaz, our commitment is to publish accurate information across all content. We adopt a rigorous fact-checking process, questioning assumptions, investigating claims with skepticism, and challenging conventional wisdom.

b) Due accuracy is our fundamental commitment. This implies that the accuracy of our content is adequate and appropriate to the subject and nature, explicitly acknowledging any constraints that might influence expectations.

c) Our output, as per its content and nature, is well-sourced, based on available evidence, and corroborated. We maintain honesty about what we don’t know, avoiding unfounded speculation.

d) Deliberate plagiarism or distortion of facts, including visual information, is strictly prohibited.

e) We independently verify claims, especially those made by public officials or those with agendas beyond reporting the truth. Unverifiable content is attributed accordingly.

f) We stand by the accuracy of our information. If proven otherwise, we promptly correct the information, avoiding material misleading of our audiences.

Fact-Checking Structure

Our journalists are dedicated to reporting, writing, and fact-checking. Stories undergo review by one or more editors, with the seniority of editors varying based on factors like complexity and sensitivity.

Correction Policies

While we aim for excellence, occasional errors may occur. We uphold transparency and take responsibility for correcting errors promptly.

Reader Involvement

Readers spotting errors should contact our editor-in-chief, Emilee Wentland, via email at republicawaaz@gmail.com with the subject “Correction Needed.” Corrections should include details such as the correction, issue date, where the error was noticed, the reader’s contact information, correct information, and the information source.

republicawaaz.com’s Role

Once aware of an error, the editor-in-chief investigates using provided information and other available sources. If an error is confirmed, corrections are made across all disseminated forms—print, online, and social media.

  • Print: Corrections are printed on page 2A in the next issue.
  • republicawaaz.com: The article is corrected, and an editor’s note is added.
  • Social Media: Corrections are posted linking to the corrected article.

The reader is informed of the correction steps taken. A correction submission guarantees an investigation but not necessarily a correction.

Republic Awaaz is dedicated to maintaining accuracy, transparency, and journalistic excellence.
